SWRO for Roe v Wade

To Our SWRO Members and Radiation Oncology Community:

We, as members of the Society for Women in Radiation Oncology, are deeply saddened to learn of the overturning of Roe v Wade. The repercussions of this action are broad reaching and, unfortunately, we will see the implications of this decision moving forward in all aspects of the healthcare sector.

While some may protest that radiation oncologists are distant from issues pertaining to reproductive health, we are reminded that our patients do not stop being people when they are diagnosed with cancer. Access to safe, effective, and affordable care for all will continue to remain a priority of our organization and our field. We will continue our foundational belief of advocacy to fight for a better future for our patients, and strive to increase access to care for those who need it.

We acknowledge our colleagues, patients, peers, and allies who may feel isolated; you are not alone. We are committed to providing the highest level of patient care and will continue to offer unconditional support to all who need it.

Sincerely,

SWRO Executive Committee & SWRO Senior Advisory Committee
